About | Freinds of the Williams Aquatic Center

Please help us keep our pool open.

This video was made in 2009, 1 month before the pool closed.

The FWAC mission is to improve the quality of life for the greater Williams community through aquatic programs. We seek to ensure that there is a place for the community to learn to swim, recreate, rehabilitate, and exercise.

History & Accomplishments

  • The Williams Aquatic Center is a 98,000 gallon indoor high altitude swimming facility. It has four 75’ lap lanes and a zero depth entry.
  • In January of 2010, the City of Williams found itself in a fiscal crisis as the country entered into the recession.  A decision was made to close and drain the community pool.  The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center was formed by the community as a response to the Aquatic Centers closure.
  • Over the last 3 years we have raised over $15K. In 2011 we, in cooperation with the Greater Williams Community Fund & the City, extended the swimming season through to September.
  • In 2012, with the help of grants from the GWCF, we were able to provide free swimming lessons to 116 children.
